Bethany Baptist Church

We met and sang “Face-to-Face,” and then had a devotion titled “Like-Minded According to Jesus” from Romans 15:5-6.

We as a church should be like-minded and in one accord according to the Bible. We all have different personalities, but when it comes to doing the work of the Lord, we should all agree on the doctrines of God’s Word.

Our job here on this earth is to spread the gospel to a lost and dying world. Whatsoever we do, we should do it for the glory of God. When we are in discord with one another, we cannot do the Lord’s work as we should. We should follow the example Jesus lived before us when he was on this earth.

We were dismissed with a prayer, and then we sang “I Want to Be a Worker,” “We’ll Work till Jesus Comes” and “Work for the Night Is Coming. Bro. Aubry accepted prayer requests and welcomed our visitors, some repeat and some first-time visitors.

Bro. Aubry’s message “The Bare Essentials a Church Must Hold to be a Church” from 2 Timothy 2:15, 2 Timothy 3:15-17, Hebrews 4:12 and 2 Peter 1:21.

We need to accept the fact Jesus Christ is Lord of our lives. Our Lord and Savior has given us a commission (Matthew 28:18-20): We are to go, teach and baptize those who are saved, and we are to teach them about all things God has for them to do.

God is a loving God, but he expects us to be obedient to him. The first thing we do is teach people that they are lost and in need of a Savior. We were born sinners; we sin because of our fleshly nature. We must be born again and live for Christ every day. Other lives depend on what we as saved people do. Tell others about Jesus. When we as a church neglect our duty, it hinders the work of the Lord. Only through the authority of the Word of God, the Bible, can we go out into the world doing the work of the Lord.

There three things we need in order to do that: (1) Believe and accept the authority of the Word of God. (2) Have a precise understanding of who Jesus is and what he does. (3) We must have an accurate comprehension of how a person is saved, how he is converted and how someone becomes a Christian. Unless we are saved we cannot become Christians.

We closed the service with a prayer and the song “Jesus Paid It All.”

The evening service began with “Let Him Have His Way;” then Bro. Aubry continued the morning message.

Our greatest task is to tell the lost world the plan of salvation. We study the Bible so that we know what the Scriptures are saying. We need to take scripture in the context in which it was written and know that all scripture is given by and inspired of God.

We should know the doctrine in the Bible. The Bible is good for reproof, correction and instruction so we will be fully aware of all we should know, but also so that we will know what we should and should not do. The Word of God will discern our thoughts and the intent of our heart.

Prophecy did not come from the will of man, but the will of God. The men who wrote God’s Word were sanctified, and the Holy Spirit moved them to write. The Book of Revelation was given to John to write; it is the revelation of God to John.

Why is it important to believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God? We need to believe what the Bible says about the Holy Spirit, God and Jesus. We need to know that there is no book equal to the Bible.

Job 11:7 says that God is infinitely above us. We are finite. God has no need of a clock; he has no time limits.

If we will ask God to reveal himself to us through the Holy Spirit, we can be saved. We can never change our salvation once we are saved. God never leaves us, and he never changes. If you are lost and going to an eternal hell where you will be separated from God, be saved today before it is too late.

We dismissed to the fellowship hall to celebrate Bro. Aubry’s birthday.
