Participants in a prayer walk for Isabella student Trent Grubbs are encouraged to wear "Team Trent" T-shirts.

A prayer walk will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at Veterans Park in Alabaster in honor of an Isabella student who was injured in a wreck on Oct. 28, 2011.

Trent Grubbs is being treated at UAB hospital for a spinal cord injury sustained when his vehicle left the road and flipped several times.

He is moving his arms but has not been able to move his legs and feet.

Relatives organized the event under the premise of “walking for Trent.”

“We are challenging each of you to walk, and while you’re doing this, take the time to pray for Trent,” said his mother, Allison Thibodeaux.

Grubbs, a sophomore, had been enrolled at Isabella a short time before the wreck, which occurred between Thorsby and Isabella as he was on his way to school.

Grubbs, 16, has two siblings at Isabella, Blake and Kendall Thibodeaux, an 11th grader and eighth grader, respectively.

Veterans Park is located off Highway 119 in Alabaster. Those participating in the walk are encouraged to wear “Team Trent” T-shirts, which can be purchased by calling April Riley at (205) 230-3271.

Allison Thibodeaux encouraged community members to visit facebook.com/groups/teamtrent, and also said contact from friends via Skype would be welcome.

“It’s very uplifting for him to know that people are supporting him,” she said.
