The Chilton County Democratic Club will welcome Alabama Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries Ron Sparks to speak at its Dec. 8 meeting.

Sparks, a native of Fort Payne and former DeKalb County Commissioner, is a candidate for Alabama Governor in 2010.

The public is invited to attend the meeting and enjoy a Dutch dinner at Kountry Kitchen beginning at 6:30 p.m.

“We’re proud to have the commissioner of agriculture in our county, especially since we’re an agricultural county,” Democratic Club president and Chilton County Probate Judge Bobby Martin said.

Sparks will likely address numerous issues, including the 2010 gubernatorial race.

Martin encourages all who are interested to attend.

“I’ve heard him speak before, and he is a real good presenter. He has a lot of knowledge about the workings of the state of Alabama,” Martin said.

Kountry Kitchen is located on County Road 28 (Lake Mitchell Road) just outside Clanton.
