Parade to allow marching after all

Marching will be allowed for groups in Friday night’s Clanton Christmas Parade — but with an added stipulation.
After initially requiring all groups to ride on a vehicle, with the exception of high school marching bands, the Parade Committee decided to allow marching with the understanding that no one is to stop during the parade.
“The group must keep moving and must not stop to perform. The leader of the group acknowledges their understanding of this rule by the signature on the Christmas Parade application,” the official parade rules and regulations states.
Roger Yeargan, Christmas Parade chairman, has indicated that past incidents have interrupted the flow of the parade. This brought up safety concerns for participants, particularly children.
Any group that violates the rule will not be allowed to march in next year’s parade, Yeargan said.
The parade will assemble at the parking lots in and around the ball fields beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The parade begins at 6 p.m.
Floats and vehicles should enter the road next to the Chamber of Commerce office, and marching groups and bands should assemble in the Fred’s parking lot on the end near the ball fields.
