The 2009 Chilton County Peach Parade will roll through downtown Clanton on Saturday, June 27, at 9 a.m.

Parade entry forms are now available at various locations around the county for any group or individual who wishes to participate. These locations are: The Clanton Advertiser, Clanton City Hall, Clanton Police Department, C&C Trophy and Sign, Chilton County Chamber of Commerce, Thorsby Town Hall and Jemison City Hall.

“We’re being a little stricter on the lineup this year,” David Hicks of the Clanton Police Department said.

Due to past incidents, anyone who does not go to their assigned lineup location will be asked to leave the parade. All participants will be contacted prior to the parade and given an assigned location, Hicks said.

Lineup is one hour earlier at 8 a.m. at Jack Hayes Field and Fred’s parking lot. The route, which is explained in full detail on the entry forms, will remain the same as in recent years.

Hicks also stressed the importance of parade participants remaining on their floats or vehicles during the entire parade.

“The biggest thing we emphasize is that everybody needs to be on something that’s moving, other than marching bands,” he said.

Hicks said the city is looking for another big turnout this year.

“We have averaged about 80 entries within the last four years,” he said.
