Chilton County High School’s softball team has advanced to the sub-state round of the Class 5A state playoffs with a second-place finish at its area tournament on Wednesday at Shelby County High School.

The Tigers defeated Sylacauga in their first game of the day, 3-2, before losing to host Shelby County, 11-1.

Kricket Caton scored Chilton’s only run in the loss.

In an elimination game, CCHS took another one-run win over Sylacauga, this time winning 8-7 in 11 innings.

Chilton lost again to Shelby, 5-0, in the championship run, but the Tigers already had at least a second-place finish wrapped up–good enough to advance.
