Chilton County High School’s Tania Wyatt is this week’s athlete of the week after her performances during the week of April 12-18. Wyatt took home two gold medals at the Sylacauga Meet #5 on April 12 at Sylacauga High School in girls 100- and 200-meter dashes.

Wyatt set a personal best of 12.71 seconds in the 100 meters at the meet, but she set a new standard with her run in the 200 meters. The sophomore ran a 23.94 in the 200, setting a new fastest time by a female sprinter in Alabama this season. The time also set a new personal best time, and set a new CCHS school record in the event.

Wyatt also took bronze in the girl’s long jump at the meet as well.

Wyatt’s impressive meet earned her AHSAA Central Alabama Athlete of the Week honors on April 18. She currently sits ranked No. 1 in the state in the girl’s 200-meter dash by Alabama Runners MileSplit Outdoor Rankings.
