The town council of Maplesville has been working on a sewer, lighting grant for several months. During their meeting last night they approved a resolution to enter into an agreement with the State of Alabama for project STPTE-TEO08(929), which will help the town in placing lights around the Maplesville Walking Trail. They are also awaiting the final acceptance of their sewer grant, which should be in by the end of the week promoting the Mitchell Hill and West Fraser/Highway 22 sewer projects.

The council also held a meeting with the Chilton County Drug and Violent Crimes Task Force. The task force explained how they work in Maplesville and the council is set to decided if they want to be a part of the force any more or if they are going to pull their task officer out of the task force.

In other business the council accepted a refund of gasoline and motor fuel excise taxes for agriculture resolution and a setting compensation for absentee elections manager resolution. The absentee resolution stated that city clerk Sheila Haigler would be paid $50 per day for compensation, but she refused pay.

They also approved an ordinance to establish electronic voting devices for municipal elections.
