The Sixth Annual Trail Ride and Family Fun Day will be held Sunday, Oct. 16 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Sullivans’ Evergreen Farm in Thorsby.

Admission is free, but donations of any amount will go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Donors may make checks payable to St. Jude Children‘s Research Hospital or donate online by credit card at stjude.org and click on “Shelby County 4-H.”

The cost to ride is $35 per participant, and $15 for each additional riding family member. The amount includes lunch, as well as one T-shirt per family. Negative coggins is required; a quick test is available for a fee.

Activities will include face painting, hay rides, cake walk, door prizes, silent auction, roping and horse drill team demonstrations. Early riders will find prizes on the trails (one prize per rider).

Trails are well-marked and safe over 300 acres. There are trails for every rider’s ability: beginner, intermediate and advanced. A veterinarian, Dr. Diane Harrington, will be on the premises.

No horse is required to attend; and no alcohol is allowed. There will be a gospel and country singing throughout the day. Lunch will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Those who plan to attend are asked to leave their pets at home. Lawn chairs and blankets are welcomed.
