HOBO’s help create new habitats

Alabama Power and Lake Mitchell HOBO’s worked together again this February to establish new fish habitats in Lake Mitchell.

Each Christmas, Alabama Power collects old Christmas trees and brings them to the lake to be placed in various spots, whose GPS coordinates are recorded. The trees are tied in bunches of five, anchored by concrete blocks and placed at various locations around the lake for fish habitat.

Each spot will have a sign along the bank indicating the location, and Alabama Power has posted the locations on their Web site—www.alabamapower.com/lakes/fishdata.asp—just in time for spring fishing.

This is an annual event on Lake Mitchell, and all are welcome to come and assist and learn first-hand where the fish may be hiding. Those interested in helping next year should contact a HOBO member.
