Garbage fees will change for some

A number of residents in Jemison’s police jurisdiction can expect a change in monthly garbage fees.

The change does not affect anyone within Jemison city limits; only those residing outside of corporate limits in the police jurisdiction.

The city council amended its ordinance Monday night to set the garbage fees at $22 per month. Mayor Eddie Reed emphasized that the rates will not increase for anyone living in the city.

In other business, the council passed a resolution acknowledging the assignment of the local cable TV franchise to Zito Alabama, LLC. The company purchased the franchise from CoBridge Telecom, LLC in April of this year.

“It’s just a matter of legality,” Reed said.

The council also:

•Hired Ridgestone Capitol to check into a 2007 bond issue.

•Donated $350 to the North Chilton Orioles, a local youth baseball team playing in the Dizzy Dean World Series.

•Purchased an ad in The Clanton Advertiser’s annual magazine, Faces & Places, for $700.
