Jade McWhorter named 2017 Miss Chilton County

Jade McWhorter was crowned the 2017 Miss Chilton County during the pageant on Feb. 18.

McWhorter, who is 18 years old, also won the Sportswear category.

The audience at Jemsion High School erupted in cheers as McWhorter was crowned by outgoing Miss Chilton County Avery Wyatt.

Chloe Haggard was crowned Junior Miss Chilton County. Molly Clements was crowned Young Miss Chilton County. She also won the Sportswear category. Saydie Smith was crowned Little Miss Chilton County. She was also the Sportswear winner for her age group.

The night began with each group performing an opening dance number. Contestants then introduced themselves and their sponsor. Contestants modeled Sportswear, then changed for the evening gown category.

Each of the queens received prizes from the event sponsors and a scholarship.

In the Miss Chilton County group, Tiffany Davis was named Miss Congeniality.

Savannah Swindle was named first alternate. Second alternate was Whitley Smith. Madi Price was named third alternate. Courtney Penton was named fourth alternate.

In the Junior Miss category, the Sportswear winner was Elizabeth Bice. Grace Ann Porter was named Miss Congeniality.

Taylor Pierce was the third alternate. Isabelle Alexander was named second alternate. First alternate was Allison Giles.

In the Young Miss category, second alternate was Etta Sophie Porter. Caroline Watson was named first alternate.

In the Little Miss Chilton County group, fourth alternate was Elizabeth Eason. Anna Mims was named the third alternate. Second alternate was Adelyn Fulmer. Cambree Crumpton was named first alternate.

Each Little Miss and Young Miss contestant received a trophy for participating.

Miss Chilton County is organized by the Clanton Evening Lions Club, and is one of the club’s largest fundraisers each year.
