An Indian Springs man pleaded not guilty to rape and sodomy charges related to a September 2014 arrest in Chilton County.

Kevin Taylor Ross, 23, of Indian Springs, waived his arraignment and filed a written plea of not guilty through his defense attorney on March 2.

Ross was indicted by a February grand jury in Chilton County on one charge of rape in the first degree and two counts of sodomy first degree for an incident with a female, which occurred in Chilton County around Sept. 20, 2014, according to court records.

The warrants for Ross’ arrest indicates that he “engaged in sexual intercourse with a member of the opposite sex by forcible compulsion” and he “engaged in deviate sexual intercourse with a member of the opposite sex by forcible compulsion.”

Ross was arrested Sept. 22, 2014, and indicted by a grand jury on February 13, according to court records.

An order filed on March 9 by Chilton County Circuit Judge Sibley Reynolds set a plea date for Ross on April 7 at 9 a.m. at the Chilton County Courthouse.

Ross will have the option to inform the court whether the case will go to trial or whether he will enter a plea of guilty, according to court records.

Currently, Ross remains out of jail on a bond of $60,000.
