A fourth-quarter rally by Verbena came up short on Friday as the Red Devils lost at Notasulga, 20-14.

Notasulga (5-3, 3-1) led 6-0 at halftime and 20-0 in the second half, but Verbena (3-5, 1-4) used long touchdown passes from Tristan Short to Raymond Bulger and Juwan Tyus, and a two-point conversion run by Hakeem Underwood, to pull within striking distance.

The Red Devils took possession of the football after recovering a fumble in Notasulga territory but were stopped on a fourth down play to end their last significant threat.
