With a 10-0, five-inning win over B.B. Comer on Wednesday, Thorsby’s baseball team just needs another win Friday over Comer to clinch second place in its area—and a playoff berth.

Host THS plated six runs in the fourth inning—including a three-run home run by Tyler Owens—to take a commanding lead over Comer.

The Rebels finished off the visitors early with three more runs in the fifth inning.

Conner McRae took a leadoff walk to start the home half of the first inning but was stranded on base.

Bailey Sellers doubled to lead off the second inning, advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Braden McRae and then scored on a sacrifice fly by Cody Scott.

Thorsby (24-6, 4-3) stranded another baserunner in the third inning—the fourth man left on base in the game—and Comer remained within striking distance, down 1-0 after three innings.

Thankfully, Thorsby pitcher Blake Bradberry was allowing almost nothing to the Comer offense.

The visitors managed one hit in the third inning and two more in the fifth, and no walks.

Bradberry struck out three batters in five innings pitched.

Scott drew a one-out walk to start the rally. With two outs, Jagger Cook reached base on an error and Conner McRae was hit by a pitch, and the Rebels would make their opponents pay for the mistakes.

Wesley Posey and Matt Morgan drove in one run each with back-to-back hits, and then Owens sent a shot over the left-center field wall to give THS a 7-0 lead.

In the bottom of the fifth, Scott again started a rally with a base on balls; this time, Bradberry and Cook were also walked to load the bases.

Conner McRae was hit by a pitch to bring one run home, and then Posey ended the game via the 10-run mercy rule with a two-run hit to right field.

Posey finished 2-for-4 with three RBI. Owens was 2-for-3 with a double, home run and three RBI. Sellers went 2-for-3. Scott didn’t log an official at-bat in three plate appearances but scored two runs and drove in one.
