Cooler temperatures are expected to arrive throughout Chilton County this week with the coolest days expected to be Wednesday and Saturday.

Meteorologist Aaron Gleason with the National Weather Service in Calera said there are two separate surges of cooler air arriving in Alabama, bringing the coolest temperatures so far this season.

“The first chilly day will be on Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night when the lows are going to be in the low 40s and upper 30s,” Gleason said. “It will be the coldest we have seen this fall.”

A second surge of cooler air will arrive Friday night into Saturday morning with evening low temperatures only expected to reach 37 degrees.

“We aren’t expecting a freeze yet, but it will be a touch cooler than the temperatures Wednesday evening into Thursday morning,” Gleason said. “It will be just cool enough for folks to need a light jacket.”

Temperatures for the rest of the week should reach the mid 60s to lower 70 degrees during the day and overnight temperatures in the low 40s.

“This is pretty standard for this time of the year,” Gleason said.

Traditionally, the first freeze of the season doesn’t arrive until Nov. 11 according to data used by the National Weather Service.

Gleason said the only chance for rain this week is on Tuesday with a 20 percent chance expected and the rest of the week should stay dry.
