Isabella’s football team returned to its winning ways Friday, one week after the Mustangs dropped their first game of the season, against region foe Lanett.

This week, IHS topped another region opponent, LaFayette, by a 42-20 score.

Jacob Carroll got the Mustangs (6-1 overall, 4-1 region) on the scoreboard first with a 1-yard touchdown run.

Then, Austin Brasher picked up a blocked punt and ran it in for a 14-8 Isabella lead.

In the second quarter, quarterback Tyler Smith scored on a long run and Carroll scored on a short run to make the score 28-8 Isabella at halftime.

Smith connected with Christian Littleton for a pass of about 30 yards in the third quarter, and Isabella’s scoring was concluded with a DeRodgus Campbell run of about 40 yards in the fourth quarter.
