Trinity Episcopal to hold annual Blessing of Animals

On Sunday, Oct. 6, the Seventh Annual Blessing of the Animals celebration will take place at Trinity Episcopal Church, 503 Second Avenue in Clanton, at 1:30 p.m.

The annual blessing takes place on the first Sunday in October in honor of Blessed Francis of Assisi, a 12th century holy man of the Christian faith. Francis had a great love for all of the animals and cared deeply for them.

In his honor and memory, Trinity Episcopal Church will have an outdoor gathering where all animals will be blessed and prayers for the proper care of animals, large and small, will be offered.

Besides the regular supply of dogs, birds and cats, there will probably also be goats and horses in attendance.

The Chilton County Humane Society will be present and will have some dogs and cats available for adoption.

The annual blessing service is open to the public, and all area residents are encouraged to bring an animal or two for a blessing of the animals.
