Trevon Bryant (Jemison 2012) and Taylor Hughes (Chilton County 2010) enter their sophomore and senior seasons, respectively, for Huntingdon College.

On Nov. 15, Huntingdon will open at home against Emory & Henry in Montgomery.

Football

Anthony Johnson (Maplesville 2013) posted 20 yards on six receptions as a tight end for Jacksonville State (3-0) in a 24-21 victory at home against North Alabama (1-1) in Jacksonville.

The 6-foot-4, 200 pounder has contributed a reception in every contest including a 23-yard touchdown from Max Shortell in a 24-22 triumph in the season opener at Alabama State (1-2) on Aug. 31 in Montgomery.

For the season, Johnson has 65 yards on nine catches with one score.

Javae Swindle (Jemison 2012) totaled 65 yards on seven carries for West Alabama (1-1) in a heartbreaking 44-42 loss at McNeese State (3-0) on Sept. 14 in Lake Charles, La.

For the season, the 5-4, 145-pound sophomore leads the Tigers in rushing with 170 yards on 20 attempts with one touchdown and an average of 8.5 yards per carry.

On his first carry against MSU, he ripped off a 35-yard run that led to a nine-play, 75-yard drive that ended with a 26-yard touchdown pass to Seth Roberts from Kyle Caldwell at the 2:55 mark of the first quarter.

Following a 14-14 deadlock to conclude the opening quarter, UWA trailed 24-21 to close the first half.

In the fourth quarter, Swindle contributed 24 yards on the ground for the Tigers, who held a 42-38 lead with 3:41 remaining in the contest.

McNeese responded with a 20-yard TD pass to Diontae Spencer from Cody Stroud with 46 seconds remaining in regulation to cap a 12-play, 66-yard drive.

In the final possession for UWA, Caldwell was sacked twice and the game ended on a turnover on downs.

Philander Browder II (Marbury 2010) is a wide receiver for Tuskegee (2-0), who posted a 19-13 victory at Albany State (0-2) on Sept. 14 in Albany, Ga.

The 6-1, 190-pound senior is a Verbena native.

Taylor Hughes (Chilton County 2010) completed 3-of-5 pass attempts for 56 yards for Huntingdon College (1-0) in a 35-7 triumph at Mississippi College (0-2) on Sept. 14 in Clinton, Miss.

The 6-1, 205-pound quarterback added 38 yards rushing in the contest.

Blake Lawley (Isabella 2010) recorded two tackles as a starting defensive end for Huntingdon against Missippi College.

Austin Rossi (Chilton County 2013) contributed as a linebacker for Birmingham-Southern (2-0) in a 35-32 victory at home against Hendrix (1-1) in Birmingham.

Volleyball

Amber Wyatt (Isabella 2011) had one of her finest tournaments of the season as a middle blocker for South Alabama (4-5) at the Hampton Inn Bama Bash from Sept. 13-14 in Tuscaloosa.

The junior opened the invitational with six kills, four digs and three block assists in a 3-1 victory against UT-Martin (6-5).

She added two block assists and two digs in a 3-1 triumph against Nicholls State (3-7) and one kill and one block assist in a 3-1 loss against Alabama (7-2).

Allison Mims (Isabella 2013) posted two digs and two server aces for Wallace Community College Selma (5-2) in a 3-1 triumph at home against Concordia.
