Chilton County, Jemison split tennis matches

Chilton County’s and Jemison’s boys and girls tennis teams split their matches Wednesday at Clanton City Park.

The Jemison boys won, 7-2, and CCHS’s girls won, 8-2.

In girls singles action, Chilton’s Ada Ruth Huntley (8-3 over Brooke Bice), Anna Adams (8-3 over Macy Thompson), Mary Colby Kelley (8-1 over Carley Pate), Anna Bearden (8-2 over Samantha Cochran), Jessica Morgan (8-0 over Kyra Glasscock) and Caitlyn Smith (8-3 over Elaine Powell) were victorious.

Jemison’s Sarah Price topped Chilton’s Anna Lemus, 7-2.

In doubles, the combination of Bice/Thompson defeated Huntley/Smith, 8-2, but CCHS won the other two matches: Adams/Bearden 8-2 over Pate/Glasscock and Kelley/Morgan 8-2 over Cochran/Powell.

For the boys, Jemison’s Andrew Morton (8-1 over Nicholas Lyn), Jake Long (8-2 over Rett Russell), Bryan Cochran (8-6 over Conner Morgan), Brett Paschal (8-0 over David Miller) and Austin Lovett (8-0 over Nate Adams) were victorious.

Ryan Baker had Chilton’s lone boys singles win, 9-7 over William Morton.

Andrew Morton/Long defeated Lyn/Russell 8-1 in doubles, and Cochran/Lovett topped Miller/Adams 8-0.

Baker/Morgan won for CCHS, 9-8 in a tiebreaker over William Morton/Paschal.
