Organizers of Chilton County High School’s “Blast from the Past 2013” are launching ticket sales this month for the annual program to be held March 1–3 in the CCHS Auditorium.

The public will be able to purchase tickets in the lobby of the CCHS Auditorium on Feb. 18, 19, 21, 25, 26 and 28, from 5:30–7 p.m.

Tickets are $5 each and may also be purchased at the door before performances. Tickets will not be sold in the school’s front office this year.

More than 180 students are involved in Blast from the Past, a concert program and fundraiser that supports local organizations including Relay For Life of Chilton County.

Proceeds from the 2013 program will help fund Relay For Life, Special Olympics, a Christmas party for underprivileged children, new lights for the CCHS football field, pink socks for the football team to wear in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and props and costumes for Blast from the Past.

Ricki and Sheri McKee put together the program for more than 18 years. Now, Paige Scruggs, Kelli Crumpton, Amy Easterling and numerous other CCHS faculty members and volunteers work behind the scenes to produce the program, which is in its 21st year.

“These volunteers spend many hours of their time helping choreograph, be voice coaches and provide art instruction,” Crumpton said. “Not all students sing or dance. Many are on the art committee, set building crew or lighting and sound crew. There is something for all of the students to be involved in with the show.”

Each year, students try out for songs in January in front of a panel of judges, Crumpton said.

After students are selected for songs, practice begins and continues for four days a week from the time school dismisses at about 3 until about 8:30 p.m.

Blast from the Past 2013 performance times are as follows: Friday, March 1, at 6:30 p.m.; Saturday, March 2, at 6:30 p.m.; and Sunday, March 3, at 2 p.m.

In addition to the scheduled performances for the public in March, the program is performed for local schools.

The song order for the 2013 program is: “Smoking in the Boy’s Room,” “I’m Sorry,” “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” “You Ain’t Woman Enough,” “Chattanooga Choo Choo,” “We Are the World,” “Ain’t No Woman Like the One I Got,” “Cool Rider,” “Judy’s Turn to Cry,” “Romeo,” “It Ain’t Me Babe,” “Summer Nights,” “Mr. Big Stuff,” “Boondocks,” “I Will Follow Him,” “Ice, Ice Baby,” “My Boyfriend’s Back,” “Good Morning, Baltimore,” “Keep Me Hangin’ On,” “Papa Was a Rolling Stone,” “Cleopatra Queen of Denial,” “Harden My Heart,” “Nothing Better to Do” and “Footloose” (senior number).
