Senior Brandon White on Tuesday sparked the Verbena basketball team to a 60-51 home win over Thorsby.

The Red Devils trailed the visitors 8-7 in the final seconds of the first period, but White scored four consecutive points to give VHS an 11-8 lead at the end of the frame.

The Rebels kept it close through the first half, trailing 23-17 at halftime, but Verbena outscored Thorsby 20-9 in the third quarter to take a commanding lead that would never be threatened.

Thorsby did cut the lead to nine points at 48-39 with about 5 minutes left to play—when Andrew Farris displayed a deft touch inside on a shot that rolled around the rim before going in—and to seven points with about 2 minutes left.

White led all scorers with 24 points.

Jason Ray (13 points) and Brad Boswell (10) also scored in double digits for Verbena.

Evan Bryan led Thorsby with 23 points.

Teammate Marcus Bray scored 10 points.
