Clanton Kiwanis Club members have spent the last month planning, preparing and tidying the fairgrounds for the 2012 Chilton County Fair on Sept. 24–29.

Once again, the fair will feature Kissel Rides and Shows, along with other attractions for all ages.

It is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club and the Agricultural Center Board and has served as the Kiwanis Club’s major fundraiser for 10 years.

“It has been a boon for us as a fundraiser,” President Dan Nolen said. “The fair is an exciting time for adults and children. We’re happy to be a part of it.”

Nolen said highlights of this year’s fair most likely will be the customary Demolition Derby on Tuesday night and the new bike show on Monday and Saturday nights.

Proceeds from the fair will fund scholarships the club awards to high school students every year and will support various charities.

Students from Jemison High School’s Key Club will help man the gates, which open at 6 p.m. Monday–Friday and at 5 p.m. Saturday. All parking is free.

Admission is $4 for adults and free for children three and under.

Armbands are $20 and are valid for unlimited rides on all rides the entire day on which they are purchased.

The entertainment lineup for the week includes:

•Monday: Bingo sponsored by the Clanton Police Auxiliary, 6 p.m.; Little Ones’ Farm Adventure, 6–8 p.m.; On the Edge motorcycle/bicycle action show, 7 p.m.

•Tuesday: Bingo sponsored by the Clanton Police Auxiliary, 6 p.m.; Attitudes Dance, 6 p.m.; Demolition Derby, 7 p.m.

•Wednesday: Bingo sponsored by the Clanton Police Auxiliary, 6 p.m.; Southern Pride Band, 7 p.m.

•Thursday: Bingo sponsored by the Clanton Police Auxiliary, 6 p.m.; lamb/goat show, 6 p.m.; gospel singing, 7 p.m.

•Friday: Bingo sponsored by the Clanton Police Auxiliary, 6 p.m.; gospel singing, 7 p.m.

•Saturday: Beef show, 3 p.m.; bingo sponsored by the Clanton Police Auxiliary, 6 p.m.; On the Edge motorcycle/bicycle action show, 6 p.m.
