Investigators allege five girls, ages 8-11 at the time of the crimes, were sexually abused by a local man who was arrested last month.

Manuel Alvarez, 50, of Clanton is still being held in the Chilton County Jail, under a $3,275,000 bond, according to Clanton Police. He was arrested July 6 at his home off Temple Road and has been charged with 28 counts of possession of child pornography, production of child pornography and sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12.

Two of Alvarez’s charges have been brought by Autauga County law enforcement, based on evidence recovered during CPD’s investigation.

The case is also being charged through federal court by a Department of Homeland Security agent assigned to child pornography investigation.

Clanton Police confirmed more than 15,000 images on two confiscated hard drives as child pornography. Four other hard drives are being processed by Prattville Police Department’s computer forensics lab.
