Jemison High School’s Carter Domino is this week’s athlete of the week after his performances during the week of March 7-14. Domino made two starts for the Panthers during the week and piled up 29 strikeouts in 13 and two-third innings pitched, coming up one out shy of two complete games.

The sophomore has made four starts this season for Jemison and was roughed up some in his first two outings, earning a no decision and a loss. However, Domino has locked in the last two starts winning both games, including a 4-2 win over Isabella High School in the 2024 Chilton County Baseball Tournament on March 7 with five hits, two runs, no walks and 17 strikeouts.

Domino has held his own at the plate as well, combining to go 4-for-10 with a double and 2 RBIs in the three games he played in during the week. He finished his week on March 12 leading Jemison to a 4-1 win over West Blocton High School where he finished with a complete seven innings and five hits, one run, one walk and 12 strikeouts.

Honorable mention: Landon Jones, Billingsley High School

Landon Jones of Billingsley High School had an impressive week at the plate and on the mound for the Bears across five games between March 7-14. Jones’ best showing came on March 14 in game one of Billingsley’s doubleheader against Hale County High School going seven complete innings and surrendering just four hits and one walk, and striking out 18 batters in the win. In game two, Jones was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI to help the Bears complete the sweep.

Jones also launched a three-run home run in the first inning of the Bears 12-2 win over Verbena on March 11, and he added four RBIs and two walks.
