Maplesville stays perfect in region, beats Autaugaville

Maplesville High School got its fourth consecutive win and stayed unbeaten in region play with a 46-13 win over Autaugaville High School on Oct. 6.

Quarterback Bradlee Padgett had arguably his best game of the season going 10-for-19 for 137 yards and one touchdown toss to Colby Mitchell. Padgett also punched in two touchdown runs while rushing for 55 yards on seven carries.

As a team, Maplesville posted 339 rushing yards against Autaugaville and 476 total yards.

Eighth grade running back Nehemiah McCary is making his impact felt the last few games and continued against Autaugaville running for 162 yards on 13 carries, his third 100-plus yard performance of the season. McCary punched in two rushing scores as well.

Senior Johnathon Wilson shined bright on the Maplesville defense with three interceptions and four tackles. He also had a rushing touchdown for the Red Devils.

Maplesville (4-2) is now 4-0 in AHSAA Class 1A Region 4 and in a tie for first place with Loachapoka High School, who the Red Devils will see later in October. Maplesville’s next matchup is on Oct. 13 hosting Billingsley High School at 7 p.m.
