Thorsby High School got back to .500 on the season with a 24-14 win at home over Prattville Christian Academy on Sept. 1. The Rebels had three different players punch in a touchdown run to lead the charge.

Coden Cummings put Thorsby on the board first with a three-yard touchdown run midway through the first quarter, and Grayson McManus converted the two-play try to make it 8-0 Rebels after one quarter.

PCA got a rushing touchdown of their own in the second quarter but elected to kick the extra point to send the game to halftime with Thorsby holding a one-point lead.

Thorsby put together another scoring drive midway through the third quarter, this one capped by a 20-yard run by McManus. Nate Thomas got into the end zone for the two-point conversion, and the Rebels pushed their lead to a two-possession game at 16-7.

PCA did not go away as they pulled to within two points after their second rushing touchdown of the game and another choice of kicking the extra point.

The Rebels closed out the remaining 10 minutes of the game, and Thomas put the finishing touches on the win with a three-yard score with under a minute left on the clock. McManus posted his second two-point conversion run after the score to bring the game to its final tally.

Thorsby (1-1) hosts region and inter-county foe Isabella High School to open both teams AHSAA Class 2A Region 4 schedule in 2023.
