Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Head coach John Therrell and Jemison High School’s football program brought back one of its most valued former players for a kid’s football camp on July 10-11. Randy Satterfield is back at his alma mater hosting a kid’s camp and a middle and high school camp sharing the skills he has picked up at both the college and professional levels.

Satterfield said he has been back to Jemison some since he graduated, but not as much as he has been recently. Much of that is attributed to Therrell’s desire to get former Panthers players back into the program to teach some of his players, and future players, some of their techniques and skills. Current Jemison football players also helped out during the kid’s camp.

“He has been great as far as bringing alumni back,” Satterfield said. “Me and him have a good relationship. I did not really have that in the past, and it is great for the community and the kids to get the alumni out here. This is where I started, so it is always a pleasure to be back here.”

Satterfield recently had a stint in the Canadian Football League and hopes to get back there soon.

Satterfield’s middle and high school camp is on July 15 with the seventh and eighth grader’s session from 9-11 a.m. Ninth and 12th graders will follow from 11:30 a.m.- 1 p.m.
