The Clanton City Council has unanimously approved allowing Mayor Billy Joe Driver to sign an agreement regarding the proposed industrial park, if the Chilton County Commission approves the document.

The agreement would outline how cost and revenue would be divided and other details.

So far, the city and county have been equally dividing costs for preparing the site. However, a formal agreement stating that this would continue and that revenue would be divided 50/50 has not been signed.

Chilton County Commission Chairman Joseph Parnell said he would like the two governments to hold a joint executive session to discuss a few items in detail to save on going back and forth.

Parnell also said it was his opinion that utilities should not be a part of the agreement since the County would not be paying for any utility infrastructure outside of the park. If it was not included, the city would pay for all of the utilities and keep all of the revenue.

Also during the meeting, the Council approved:

• A beer, wine and package store license.
• Accepting the resignation of Andy Ellison from the Clanton Fire Department for health reasons. Driver and Councilwoman Mary Mell Smith said they were sorry to see him leave.
• Rescinding approval of a bid for garbage cans because the cans were not built to specs and having issues. The Council voted to accept the bid which had been the second lowest price.
