Mountain View Orchards in Jemison is hosting a worship concert on July 14 at 7:30 p.m., featuring Elevate contemporary worship band of Clanton First United Methodist Church.

“There’s not a lot to do in the country, so we were just wanting to have something nice to give back to the community,” event organizer Christy Millard of Mountain view Orchard said.

Guests are invited to bring their lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy a free evening of worship and fellowship, expected to conclude around 9 p.m.

“We probably will sell some drinks and maybe some ice cream,” Millard said.

Elevate performs at many events, including weekly at the Clanton FUMC contemporary church service at 9:30 a.m. on Sundays, Millard said.

The concert’s purpose is two-fold: spread the word about Mountain View Orchards and “do something fun” for the Chilton County community, Millard said.

Although Mountain View Orchards has existed since the 1930s, retail in recent years has opened it more widely to the public — yet many community members are still learning about it.

“We grow strawberries, peaches and apples. We have a small farm market here where we sell a few other types of produce and things,” Millard said of the farm. “We added this year a little outdoor café, and we have some ice cream and some pastries and different things for sale.”

Mountain View Orchards hosts various groups and tours, offering a picnic pavilion for event setups.

Mountain View Orchards is located at 16045 County Rd. 29, across the street from Petals From the Past.
