Update: The suspect of a recent theft has been apprehended and was jailed around 1 a.m. Thursday morning.

According to Sheriff John Shearon, deputies found the man at the edge of Bibb County and caught him as he attempted to flee.

The Sheriff’s Office was able to track him down due to a tip. A ping was sent out and a post put up on Facebook earlier this week alerting citizens of the manhunt. Shearon said ping alerts and social media are great tools for law enforcement.

“You just want people to be on alert,” said Shearon. “A lot of times they’re able to help.”
