Rocky Mount UMC

Ephesians 4:1-16 was the scripture reference for Sunday’s sermon.

While Elvis might be what comes to your mind when you hear “Jailhouse Rock,” we were thinking about Paul.

Paul worked hard at accomplishing his mission. We too must stick to the mission God has given us, mostly in announcing the good news of Jesus Christ and the fact that he was willing to die on the cross for us.

God often asks us to do things that are odd, just as he called Saul to change his name to Paul, asked Noah to build a giant ark and told Hosea to marry a prostitute. God is working in our lives in faith and for faith. We all need to reach out to those who are lost, even in unique ways.

Paul, as a Jew turned Christian, lived with a purpose and a mission. God can be worshipped in many places, but together with other Christians, we draw strength from each other and become stronger in our faith.

We invite you to join Rocky Mount for any of our services. Sunday evening worship services will resume in September. Our youth meet each Wednesday evening for a snack and youthful study and worship. If you have any questions, call the office and leave a message.

Samaria Baptist Church

“I was glad when they said to me, ‘Let us go into the house of the Lord’” (Psalm 122:1)

Bro. Gary Fant got the service started off with “There Is Power in the Blood” and “He Set Me Free.”

Bro. Reburn’s text came from Genesis 50:15-19 with a message titled “God Is Able to Turn the Tables.”

As Christians, Satan will try to cause us to have hatred toward our brothers and sisters in Christ. We serve a higher power, and God is able to turn the table when Satan throws things at us. We need to stay true to God because all things are possible with Jesus Christ.

It is very easy to let Satan come in, and he will try to destroy what Jesus Christ has built. Whatever we face in life, we need to know with assurance that it can be turned around, but we have to put our faith and trust in Christ.

The service ended with several coming to pray.

Please remember these as you pray this week: Samuel Burnett, Joe Romano, Caleb Harrison, the Bradberry family, the Baker family, unspoken requests, our country, our service men and women and our lost loved ones.
