While severe weather is expected for North Alabama headed into the weekend, Chilton County should not expect to see any, according to the National Weather Service.

Kevin Laws, meteorologist with the NWS, said while he doesn’t foresee any severe weather in the forecast, residents of Chilton County should still keep an eye out for any changes to the forecast.

“I think the threat of severe weather is hit-or-miss for Chilton County,” he said. “Probably not is my best forecast, (but) you can’t discount anything.”

Temperatures will reach a high near 80 during the day on Friday, with lows expected around 49. The chance of rain Friday increases from 20 percent during the day to 70 percent Friday night.

Laws said if any severe weather was to occur in Chilton County, it would likely happen between 10 p.m-midnight Friday.

While severe thunderstorms and tornadoes are not expected, Laws said there could be steady rain up to an inch, with some possible thunderstorms.

Saturday will be much cooler, as the high will reach close to 69 during the day, with the low Saturday night around 41.

Laws said Easter Sunday should see little rain, if any, with a cool start for sunrise services.

“We’re sitting on 41 (degrees) for Sunday morning,” he said. “We should be pretty good for Sunday afternoon. We’re looking at a high of 70, (and) it should be a nice day. It’s a cool start, but not too bad.”
