In other business Tuesday, the board:

•Approved the following school/shop requests:

Chilton County High School – Driver’s Education teachers for Summer 2014: Deon Timmons, Darryl Davis and Jeffery Woodley; D.J. Nix to be paid a prorated assistant principal supplement beginning March 31; and to pay Elizabeth Hubbard a junior varsity softball coach supplement ($1,150) and Brian Watts as a volunteer assistant varsity coach without payment.

Bus Shop – Permission to assist the Chilton County Emergency Management Agency in the AmbuBus Program, and permission to declare older used vehicles and buses as surplus and sell on GovDeals.com.

The school/shop requests were amended to reflect the board’s determination that Watts is a volunteer assistant varsity coach and not a full-time employee in the school system.

The original recommendation was to approve to pay Watts an assistant varsity coach supplement ($1,036).

Hand asked for clarification on Watts’ position and supplement.

Hayden said he couldn’t remember and asked CCHS Principal Cynthia Stewart whether Watts had been approved previously as an assistant varsity coach with pay.

Stewart said he was approved as a volunteer with pay in Summer 2013.

Hayden recommended the board approve Watts without payment and revisit later if determined Watts should receive payment.
