Old Macedonia
“Home-going for Homecoming!” This was the message brought to us on a beautiful homecoming Sunday morning by Pastor Wilson, and folks, let me tell you he was certainly fired up for the Lord this day. The banana pudding couldn’t even slow him down, as he invited everyone to the altar to prepare for our “home-going” on that wonderful day that our Lord Jesus Christ returns.
This was preceded by our prayer list and some great singing, and then followed by some down home delicious fixins for lunch. After dinner, the group Spoken For sang, and it was so sweet, it could make the honeysuckles jealous!
Folks, if you don’t have a church, or if you need something different in your life, we would love for you to visit with us down on the river at Old Macedonia Our congregation is growing every week, so come on down and hear Pastor Wilson, who I guarantee will bless your heart.
We have a “Youth Explosion” planned for the first Saturday night in June. All the young and the young at heart are invited to hear a special guest speaker.
A good old-fashioned baptism down on the Coosa is planned for June 22, with a celebration at the church to afterward.
Please remember that we have no promise of tomorrow, so today is the day of salvation.
Christ Independent Methodist Church
Our morning service began with congregational singing of these familiar old hymns: “The Solid Rock,” “O For a Heart to Praise My Lord” and “Open Our Eyes.”
Dr. Mac Stinson’s service title was “For Troubled Hearts.” His scripture was taken from taken from John 14:1-14. Where Jesus comforts his disciples.
Jesus says, “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.” Thomas saith unto him, “Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?” Jesus saith unto him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me“ (John 14:1-6).
There is nothing on the outside that can ease a troubled heart. Jesus tells us, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.” If you have a troubled heart, ask God to give you a new perspective. But most of all and most important of all, ask God for more faith. Faith in God is the best remedy for all our problems. Jesus put it plainly: “”Do not let your hearts become troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.”
Continue to pray for Mary Ann Carden, Tania Dawson, Bobby Varden, Kelly Parker and all others in need of God’s help and healing.
Our One Dish Dinner on Sunday will be a picnic at the southbound rest area on Interstate 65. We hope everyone can join us for this time of fellowship. Please bring a picnic-type dish or two. We will meet there following our morning worship service. If the weather is bad, we will eat in the fellowship hall.
We will have a yard sale on June 7. The money raised will go to our Community Fund to help others in need. As you do your spring cleaning, remember that we would love to have anything you would like to get rid of. You can bring your items to the church or they can be picked up.
See Michelle Lufta.
If you have no home church, we invite you to join us.
