Bethsalem Baptist Church

Our day of worship began with Mr. Roy Martin welcoming everyone and giving our ministry opportunities. J.T. Lloyd gave a message from Gideons International.

The Celebration Choir special was “Be Unto Your Name.”

The message given by state missionary, the Rev. Mark Wakefield, was titled “The Mind of Christ,” taken from Philippians 2:1-11.

Our children’s choir performed during the evening service. Emily Edwards and Amanda Arnold led them. Bro. Cleve brought the message from Matthew 4 and 5.

On Sunday, the Golden Agers luncheon will be held after the morning service.

Old Macedonia Baptist Church

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” Hosea 4:6

Our local Gideon representative included the above passage in his message to us this past Sunday morning and impressed everyone with the continuing hard work of the Gideons to spread the message throughout the world through the distribution of Bibles and believing that God’s word will not be returned void.

This message was preceded by Sunday school and followed by praying over our prayer list. The congregation sang “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” and “In the Sweet By and By,” and folks, I believe it could have made Sgt. York come out of the woods to join in.

Sunday’s singing also included Bro. Brandon singing a touching “I Know You Love Me.” Bro. Hyde sang an inspiring “Heavenly Sunlight” and Sister CeCe sang “You’re Still God” for Sister Elaine Smitherman, who we hope is feeling much better. Sister Crystal gave me the chicken skin when she ended with “You’ll Never Run Out of Blood.”

Pastor Wilson was certainly on fire for the Lord, like a lightening bug on a July night, imploring the congregation not to let the devil steal our joy and to love everyone (not the sin but the person). He stated that God is powerful, but our time is limited.

Folks, throw your body into gear and come see us down on the river at Old Macedonia. Homecoming is in the air, and that’s sweeter than sorghum syrup on a buttered biscuit. It will be held on May 18, with singing from the group Spoken For.

Our congregation is growing weekly, with Sister Rachel parker joining on Sunday. So come visit with us; we’ll treat you so many ways that you’ll have to like one of ‘em!

Please remember that we have no promise of tomorrow, so today is the day of salvation.
