Calvary Independent Baptist Church

We want to thank everyone who made it out to be part of the services this Sunday. We pray for a speedy recovery for all the ones we have sick and hurting and we pray for God to bless all of those who have other needs as well.

Sunday morning’s service included two special music presentations performed by the children at Calvary. Both were a blessing. The morning services also included a message from passages mostly in Romans 6 and 7 about sin in our lives.

Sin creates problems caused by the provisions of the flesh. When we practice sin, it will cause spiritual death not only in our individual lives but in the church as a whole. We have a great potential because God is our source of help and hope, and that is why his church family is so important to the Lord Jesus Christ and to one another. People generally will want to go to church for one of two reasons: they go to get saved or they go because they are saved.

Sunday night’s service included special music, a short message and a fellowship meal downstairs. Bro. Kevin Shaw preached from Romans 3:23 and also passages from Deuteronomy and Hebrews about sin and its effect on believer’s lives as well as the lost. If you are saved, you are to be a light unto a dark world so others may also come to see and know who the Lord Jesus Christ is. Each person is doing a work with their lives, whether they realize it or not. One’s work and life will either be getting people saved and getting them closer to God or it will be pushing them farther away.

We pray that if you are either lost or saved and have gotten out of church that you will consider visiting with us this Sunday. All churches are not the same and you may have found yourself in the wrong church. Look for a church that is alive for the things of God, one that is striving to see souls saved and lives changed by the teaching and preaching of the Word of God.

Services started with Bro. Wayne Barnett leading the church in the following hymns: “The Glory Land Way,” “Where the Soul Never Dies” and Amazing Grace.”

Bro. Rickey Bice gave a devotion from Psalms 103:8. For some people, it doesn’t take long before your temper rises, but just remember that the Bible says we need to be slow to anger, which will make us better Christians and more like Jesus.

After Sunday school, Bro Wayne led the church in the hymn “I Love My Savior Too” and Kellie Bice sang “Who Touched Me.”

Bro. Heath Vines preached from Luke 18:1-8. No matter what circumstances you are in, you need to pray. We need to be persistent with our prayers to God. If we are faithful to God, he will be faithful to us.

Sunday night’s service was our end-of-the-month singing. Many people sang and blessed the church with their songs for the Lord.

The Mike Bowling Family and Canaanland will be at our church this Saturday, May 3 at 7 p.m. We invite you and your family to attend and come hear some wonderful singing.

Our Vacation Bible School will be June 2-6, so please mark your calendars and bring your kids. It will be a fun and memorable time!
