Mountain Springs Church

Feb. 9 was a very special day at Mountain Springs Church. We are proud to have Bro. Heath Vines as our new interim pastor. We are excited about the great things God has in store and we are so happy to have Bro. Heath, Freda Vines and their sweet family with us.

The morning service started with Bro. Kenneth Moates leading the church in the following hymns: “The Glory Land Way,” “When the Redeemed are Gathering In,” “I’ll Meet You in the Morning” and “This World Is Not My Home.”

Bro. Roger Cleckler gave a devotion from 2 Corinthians 5:7: When we walk by faith, we will see the blessings of God each day.

Bro. Heath preached from Isaiah 40:31: As long as our eyes are on Jesus, we will rise and God will bless us. It doesn’t take but just a split second for us to get our eyes off of Christ. We don’t need to focus on what’s around us but focus on Christ.

Sunday night’s service began with Bro. Kenneth Moates leading the church in the hymns “Glory to his Name,” “Lift me Up Above the Shadows,” “I’ll Have a New Life” and “I’ll Be Satisfied.”

Bro. Kenneth gave a devotion from Ephesians 6:10-18. The devil may try to trick us into doing wrong, but if we stick with Christ, we will be more than conquerors.

Juliyanne Rutherford sang “Didn’t I Walk on the Water.” We are so proud of the talent God has blessed her with to sing for him.

Bro. Heath preached from Philippians 3:10-14. Our past sins and the ways of this world need to stay in our past if Christ is in our life. God can bless us now and in our future if we will be true and faithful to him.

We will have special singing March 23 at 5:30 p.m. with special guests Ivan Parker and Canaanland. This will be a wonderful event and you do not want to miss it!

Glorify the Lord in all you do.

Pastor Jeff Carroll’s text came from 1 Corinthians 1:11 titled “What Are We Doing As Christians?”

Why is the church here? Why do we go to church? We go in order to obtain more knowledge about how to serve God and spread the gospel, to understand and obtain unity in one accord and be perfectly joined together, and to seek and have a better relationship with God.

We see today that a lot of churches are becoming complacent, embracing sin and allowing the gospel to be diluted. We are to be faithful in sharing the gospel, not be preacher-worshipers or followers of men, but followers of Christ. The foundation of the church is based on the cross of God. Pastors are supposed to preach the true gospel and Christians are to spread the true gospel.

The only one who can change your life is the one who died on the cross for you. He can revolutionize your walk with God. The cross is foolishness to those who are dying, but to those of us who are saved, it is the power of God.

The gospel is not found in the world. You can’t learn or earn your way to heaven. The only way to heaven is to be born again by accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior in order to escape a devil’s hell. What are you doing?

Prayer concerns: Sandra Carroll, Billy Caton, the Bullards, Mike Price, Judy, Jennifer Haynes and the Cleckler family, Janet Wyatt, Josh Hayes, Eli Jackson, Kip Cleckley, the Cedar Grove Church family, those in the hospitals and nursing homes, spoken and unspoken requests.

Love to all and have a great week. God bless.
