Bro. Heath Vines’ text came from Colossians 3:1-3 for his sermon titled “Are You Dead.”
You may be wondering what he is talking about. Bro. Heath’s reason behind the question is this: he is praying that we are dead to our sins, and that we are a born-again child of God. When we are unsaved and living in sin, we are not living in God’s will, thus we must repent of our sins, seek God’s forgiveness and accept Jesus Christ as our savior. When you are dead to your sins and the things of this world, you are alive and risen in Christ. We cannot serve two masters; we serve either God or Satan. We who have received Christ have to walk in Christ, rooted and built-up in him, established in faith and thanksgiving. Paul tells us in the Bible that we have to die daily to sin and to the things of this world, the flesh. The spirit is indeed willing, but the flesh is weak. We must keep the flesh under control because it will cause us to compromise our walk with God. God has called us to live in victory over sin in order to obey God. We need to be alert and aware so we don’t allow rituals, false doctrines, the traditions of men, or philosophies to deceive us into losing our joy and honor in serving the one true God, the Lord of Lords and King of Kings, Jesus Christ.
May God bless you. Have a great week!
