Dear Editor,

On March 5, the family of Officer Josh Newman lost a devoted son, brother, husband and father. The community lost a friend and dedicated, professional police officer.

During our time of sorrow, we learned how much our family, friends and community mean to us. Thank you for your kindness and sympathy during a time when it was much needed.

A special thanks to Aaron Ellison of Ellison–Mims Funeral Home, Mayor Eddie Reed and the Jemison City Council, city of Jemison office staff, residents of Jemison, the entire Jemison Police Department, Clanton Police Chief Brian Stilwell and staff, Thorsby Police Chief Rodney Barnett and staff, Chilton County Sheriff’s Department Captain Rocky Mims and staff, RPS Ambulance Service, Thorsby Fire and Rescue, Chilton County Coroner Randy Yeargan, Shelby County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Chris George and staff, all law enforcement officers and agencies across the state of Alabama and the United States, and all the concerned residents across our county who sent their thoughts and concerns.

Most of all, we thank God in heaven for allowing us to be a part of Josh’s life for the past 31 years and providing him with the courage, character and professionalism he expressed and carried with him each and every day of his life.

The family of Jemison Police Officer Josh Newman
