Montevallo man dies in Thorsby motorcycle accident

A 56-year-old Montevallo man died following a motor vehicle accident in Thorsby early Sunday evening.

The victim was riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle, which struck an oncoming truck that was pulling a trailer, Thorsby Police reported. The victim was westbound on Franklin Street, while the truck was headed east.

The crash occurred between 5:30 and 6 p.m. in the vicinity of Thorsby High School, Police Chief Rodney Barnett said.

According to reports, the motorcyclist was going around a curve at the time of the accident.

The man was treated on the scene but died en route to an area hospital.

The driver of the truck, a 26-year-old Clanton man, was uninjured. There were no other injuries reported.

Thorsby Fire and Rescue officials also responded to the scene.

Police had not released the victim’s name as of press time.
