Chilton County Relay For Life’s annual kickoff has been rescheduled for Thursday, Jan. 20.

The kickoff, which was postponed due to inclement weather earlier this week, will be held at the LeCroy Career/Tech Conference Center located off Alabama 22 in Clanton. Activities will begin at 5:30 p.m.

“We’re excited about it and would love to see some new teams this year,” said Relay chairwoman Ann Glasscock. “It’s very easy to register a team online.”

During the kickoff, local committee members will provide information about Relay, including the 2011 fundraising goal, how to start a team and more.

A silent auction and a live auction will be held, with proceeds going to the American Cancer Society to officially kick off the fundraising campaign. Among items up for bid are Alabama and Auburn collectible umbrellas.

“They’re really nice umbrellas,” Glasscock said.

During the luminary service, participants will have an opportunity to decorate their own bags containing lighted candles in memory or in honor of loved ones affected by cancer.

There will be food available, including pizza and dessert, and many more goodies just for attending, Glasscock said.

The kickoff is open to all who wish to attend, and admission is free.
