Dog was a nuisance

Dear Editor,
Only a very small amount of correct information was given about the dog that was shot by the officer (“Sheriff: Dog shooting was justified,” Dec. 27).
The dog attacked and killed a neighbor’s duck on Sunday—took it to the owner’s back door.
Monday, it attacked my Chihuahua in my yard. She went into shock and had to have surgery.
I have 2- and 3-year-old grandchildren that played outside every day until they saw what that dog done to our dog. The dog has been knocking them down, but since it started killing we got scared.
I have pictures of everything to prove the dead duck, my dog’s injuries, and him waiting on a cat he chased up a tree to come down.
The owner was told by law enforcement to keep the dog inside. The law made two different visits, warning them.
I have the right to let my grandchildren play outside in our yard without fear of a dog. I did ask The Clanton Advertiser to publish a story, and perhaps if you had, the dog might still be alive because the property owner might have done something.
