Jemison’s 42-16 win at Holt on Friday may prove costly.

Quarterback Scott Clements went down with an injury early in the second quarter and did not return.

The Panthers (2-1, 2-0 Class 4A, Region 4) rolled in Clements’ absence, though, turning a 12-8 halftime lead into a comfortable win.

Clements, a senior, connected with junior Eddie Hubbard on touchdown passes of 30 yards and 55 yards in the first half.

Clements wound up completing seven passes in 12 attempts for 117 yards.

Hubbard had five catches for 109 yards, all in the first half.

With an inexperienced QB behind center in the second half, Jemison turned to the running game, and junior Javae Swindle finished with 280 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries.

Cole Thompson led the defense with 10 tackles.
