Clanton Police are investigating the burglary of a west Clanton convenience store that occurred late Monday night.
At approximately 10:20 p.m., police responded to an incident at the Shop N Fill on Fourth Avenue North not far from West End Baptist Church.
Upon arriving, police found someone had damaged a door while breaking into the store after hours.
Approximately $200 in cash and miscellaneous items, including cigarettes, had been taken from the store.
In addition, the door sustained about $1,000 in damages, Clanton Police Detective Freddie Mayfield estimated.
The burglary occurred not long after a violent accident on Highway 22 in the vicinity of the station. Clanton Police had been working the scene of the accident.
The burglary was still under investigation as of Wednesday afternoon, Mayfield said. While the department had leads on suspects, no arrests had been made.
