The Chilton County Tax Collector’s Office reminds property owners that their taxes are due Thursday, Dec. 31.

The office, located on the main floor of the Chilton County Courthouse, will be open Monday, Dec. 28 through Dec. 31 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Mailed payments must be postmarked by Thursday, Dec. 31.

“We are expecting the lines to be really bad toward the end of the week, so if at all possible try not to wait until the last minute,” Chilton County Tax Collector Tim Little said.

County residents may check their taxes online at www.chiltoncountyrevenue.com. Property taxes may also be paid online via credit card or debit card. This transaction requires a minimal fee.

Little said that due to increased business next week, the office will encounter high call volume so people attempting to contact the office by phone will need to be patient. The tax collector’s office may be reached at 755-1249.

The official county revenue Web site lists step-by-step information for checking and paying your taxes online.

Little said he had not seen a significant increase or decrease in collections from 2008.

“Collections are pretty much the same as a year ago,” he said.
