The recent arrest of a Clanton man led to the seizure of cocaine and nearly $7,000 in drug money.

The Chilton County Sheriff’s Office arrested Dandre Shamar Jemison, 24, of Clanton on Nov. 4 on charges of trafficking cocaine, unlawful distribution of controlled substances, and resisting arrest.

In an investigation by the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office Special Operation Division, the suspect was arrested with 1.5 oz. of cocaine.

The unit followed up the arrest with additional information, which produced a search warrant at 1505 15th Place in Clanton.

During the execution of the search warrant, $6,987 in cash was found inside a garbage bag in a closet.

“I am proud of the narcotics unit with this arrest,” Chilton County Sheriff Kevin Davis said.

“Mr. Jemison is not just a user but [also] a seller of this poison to our community.”

Davis also sent a word of warning to dealers that the department works daily to take drugs off the streets and to put drug dealers out of business.

“We know we will never stop all drugs from being sold on our streets, but we will work each and every day to catch each of you,” he said.
