Chilton County’s cities and towns will be a little brighter this Christmas season, as several events are planned for November and December.
The city of Clanton’s Fourth Annual Christmas Tree Lighting is Thursday, Dec. 3 in Corner Park beginning at 6 p.m.
“Each year over the past four years, we have seen numbers increase as far as people participating and acts that want to perform,” coordinator Barry Rowe said. “Each year the crowd seems to get bigger and bigger.”
Kids will get to meet Santa and have their picture taken at 5 p.m. An hour later, Mayor Billy Joe Driver and the City Council will light the Christmas tree, followed by an evening of entertainment.
Meanwhile, C&C Trophy and Sign will provide free hot chocolate to spectators and volunteers.
Chilton County native Sally Pitts of WSFA TV in Montgomery will emcee the event. Rowe said the entertainment lineup will be announced at a later date.
“We look for even a greater crowd this time,” he said.
