Thorsby High School Southern Pride Rebel Band brought back some impressive hardware from the Lake Martin Invitational Marching Contest in Alexander City on Oct. 3.

The band scored superior ratings in all categories: drum major, colorguard, percussion and marching band.

Stephen Pounders has directed the band since 2003.

The colorguard won Best in Class A. They also finished fifth overall out of the 20 bands there.

The drum line came in second place in Class A. They missed first place by 6 tenths of a point. Drum Major Katie Scott came in second place in Class A and tied for fifth overall.

The Southern Pride Rebel Band came in first place in Class A as most entertaining band and second place in Class A as Overall Marching Band.

The band finished fourth out of everyone as Most Entertaining Band, beating much larger bands, some of which had 100 members.

The band will compete again Oct. 17 at a competition in Pell City.
