Hull hits hole-in-one

Janice Hull of Clanton didn’t do anything differently when she hit a hole-in-one at the Clanton Country Club Sunday.

At first, she thought her ball might have rolled off the green. But a look in the hole confirmed her success.

“I had taken off my prescription sunglasses because it was rainy that day,” said Hull, 56, a certified public accountant in Clanton.

Hull used a 6-iron to accomplish the feat on Hole 6, a par 3 hole. The ball had to travel 129 yards to reach the hole.

Peggy Hall, Hull’s golf partner, witnessed the event, which occurred about 5:15 p.m. Sunday.

It was Hull’s first hole-in-one in 13 years of golf, and as far as anyone knows, the first hole-in-one hit by a woman at the Clanton Country Club.

“I didn’t think I ever would,” she said. “I was just happy that I did.”

Hull said she typically plays golf about twice a week.
